CLEAN WATER IS SAFE WATER
Democracy Green's Statewide Initiative "Clean Water is Safe Water" addresses water contamination in local drinking water. This statewide initiative educates communities on potential harm in their drinking water.
Through this statewide initiative, Democracy Green offers free lead testing kits to marginalized communities to identify potential lead contamination in their homes. Additionally, lead test results are provided as reliable data to community to support their advocacy efforts for clean and safe water to their local governments and appropriate agencies.

Clean water is a fundamental human right, yet, many as 10 million homes rely on lead service pipes, and 400,000 schools and childcare facilities are also at risk of lead exposure.

Democracy Green's Statewide Initiative "Clean Water is Safe Water" addresses water contamination in local drinking water. This statewide initiative educates communities on potential harm in their drinking water. It offers free lead testing kits to marginalized communities to support their data collection to scope the landscape of the problem and provide data for their advocacy efforts for clean and safe water.

World-renowned scientists at RTI oversee the testing of each sample collected and provide results.
Democracy Green's partnership with RTI is a positive step towards helping communities know what is in their water and the next steps needed to remediate those issues.

Fresh Water Fresh Start
Chapter Affiliates
In 2022, Democracy Green developed the Fresh Water Fresh Start Guide for organizations interested in creating a devoted water justice-focused program in their existing environmental justice programs or justice-centered programmatic work.

Upon becoming a Fresh Water Fresh Start Chapter Affiliate, Democracy Green provides research, drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater policy updates and resource opportunities, and conducts educational water justice and emerging contaminant workshops for organizations' leadership teams, local elected leaders, and communities, as requested.
